This guest accomodation is quite literally buried into the land.
The owners required a separate two-bedroom dwelling to provide a private space for friends and family to stay. The brief was to create a cosy, intimate space, completely hidden from the existing house, while maintaining the expansive ocean views.
The dwelling’s low profile, complete with green roof, renders it entirely invisible from the vantage point of the main house. The space features large sliders that open up to the views, and effortlessly merge with the surrounding natural beauty.
Adaptable spatial elements, such as the sliding partition between the master bedroom and living area, allow the space to feel more intimate for couples. Meanwhile the second bedroom, equipped with bunks, comfortably sleeps five additional guests.
A sculptural in-situ concrete wall hugs the dwelling and forms a private courtyard for an outdoor shower and bath. Ashin lined timber on walls and ceilings adds warmth.
